Vision Alignment

Commitment: responsive, effective and collaborative government

Goal 20: government decisions are based on careful consideration of future impacts rather than temporary relief or immediate gain.

Your Board accepting the offer of dedication and approving the parcel map will allow the map to be recorded in conformance with the County’s subdivision ordinance.

Background

The County Subdivision Ordinance (Section 3.4) requires subdividers to dedicate public easements when necessary to provide services to the parcels that are being created, or to adjacent property.

An existing sanitary sewer main crosses the subject property and serves an adjacent property. It is anticipated that one of the proposed parcels will also take sewer service from this sewer main. However, the sewer main is not within a public easement.

Discussion

The West Bay Sanitary District, the sewer service provider in this area, has requested that a sanitary sewer easement be established for the sewer main that crosses the subject property and an offer of dedication has been made on the proposed parcel map.

The parcel map has also been reviewed and checked and we are recommending that it also be approved.

A resolution has been approved as to form by County Counsel.

Fiscal Impact

The County has no financial obligation as a result of accepting the easement on behalf of he public or approving the parcel map.
