RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A FIRST LEASE AMENDMENT BETWEEN SHELTER NETWORK OF SAN MATEO COUNTY AND THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO FOR THE BUILDING AT 1580 MAPLE STREET,

REDWOOD CITY, CALIFORNIA

(LEASE NO. 5299)

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, on August 1, 2003 the County of San Mateo and Shelter Network of San Mateo County as authorized by Resolution No. 66206, entered into a Lease Agreement for the lease of approximately 11,000 square feet of building area on the first floor at 1580 Maple Street, Redwood City, California for the operation of a homeless shelter known as the “Maple Street Shelter”; and

 

WHEREAS, said Lease provides for the County to provide in-kind rent, valued at approximately $99,000 annually, as well as janitorial and laundry services for the term of the lease with a base rental of $1.00 per year; and

 

WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend the Lease to extend the term through June 30, 2009 and include an option to terminate the lease with 180 days prior written notice on the same terms and conditions contained in the Lease; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with the First Lease Amendment and has examined and approved same as to both form and content and desires to enter into same.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED

    1. That the President of the Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby, authorized and directed to execute said First Lease Amendment for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signature thereto; and

    2. That the County Manager and or his designee is hereby authorized to accept or issue on behalf of the County, any and all amendments, options, notices, consents, approvals, terminations and documents in connection with the Lease, except as otherwise provided by applicable law, including the County’s Ordinance Code and Charter.
