TO:

Honorable Board of Supervisors

FROM:

Richard Gordon and Jerry Hill

SUBJECT:

Appointment of John Dixon to Resource Conservation District

RECOMMENDATION:

Appoint John Dixon to the vacant “member” position on the Resource Conservation District to a term expiring 11/30/08.

VISION ALIGNMENT:

Commitment: 2

Goal(s): Civic engagement -- including voting, public service, charitable giving, volunteerism, and participation in public discussions of important issues -- is uniformly high among the diverse population of San Mateo County.

BACKGROUND:

The Resource Conservation District is charged with working with landowners, groups and government agencies to manage, conserve and restore natural resources effectively.

John Dixon, a resident of Pescadero, has served his community in a variety of capacities, including as a member of the Pescadero Municipal Advisory Council, as a liaison to County Service Area 11, and as a volunteer in the San Mateo County Parks system.

Supervisor Hill and I were charged with identifying a suitable candidate for this position, and we both believe that Mr. Dixon is an ideal choice.

FISCAL IMPACT:

None.
