RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF A REPLACEMENT OF A DISK STORAGE SUBSYSTEM WITH A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL PROCESS

______________________________________________________________

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the County Ordinance Code requires a sealed bid process for the purchase of items costing above $100,000 and the Board of Supervisors may waive this requirement when it determines that the County’s best interests are served;

WHEREAS, the Disk Storage subsystem holds data for the County’s mainframe computer operating system and databases such as the Criminal Justice Information System and it requires replacement because it has reached the end of its service life since replacement parts will no longer be manufactured; and

WHEREAS, to protect the County’s computer systems it is important to obtain a replacement based on factors in addition to cost, such as performance, service level and relevant expertise, it was in the best interests of the County to use an RFP process in which three proposals were submitted, and the proposal from Mainline Inc. was selected by the selection committee;

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that use of a Request for Proposal Process for the purchase of the Disk Storage Subsystem is hereby approved, and the Purchasing Agent is authorized to issue a purchase order to Mainline Inc. for such trade-in and purchase.
