BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

ADOPT A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE REDWOOD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT (RCSD) FOR THE FAIR OAKS SCHOOL COMMUNITY POLICING PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM, WITH REIMBURSEMENT OF $226,264 TO THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE, FOR A THREE (3) YEAR TERM COMMENCING AUGUST 1, 2004 THROUGH JULY 30, 2007.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the Redwood City School District (RCSD) received a $321,427 award through the School Community Policing Program (SCPP) grant, administered by the Office of the Attorney General and the California Department of Education, through the School/Law Enforcement Partnership (SLEP) program; and

WHEREAS, the SCPP grant’s main focus is on problem solving and partnering as well as offering a unique opportunity for education and law enforcement agencies to jointly analyze problems and develop solutions through innovative and collaborative thinking; and

WHEREAS, RCSD wishes to enter into an Agreement with the Sheriff’s Office to expand the school community policing approach to deal with school crime and safety issues, for a three (3) year term commencing on August 1, 2004 through July 30, 2007; and a contractual maximum of TWO HUNDRED TWENTY-SIX THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED SIXTY-FOUR DOLLARS AND NO CENTS ($226,264) reimbursed to the Sheriff’s Office; and

WHEREAS, the Sheriff’s Office will provide Fair Oaks School with a School Resource Office and a Parent/Youth Outreach Worker for an average weekly total of 55 hours; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of such Agreement and has examined and approved same as to both form and content, and desires to enter into same:

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized to, execute the Agreement with RCSD, for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board of Supervisors shall attest the President’s signature thereto.
