RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A GRANT FROM THE EMPLOYMENT DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the Employment Development Department awarded the Human Services Agency a grant in the amount of $653,800 for the purposes of providing continued training in the fields of bio-technology and allied health care targeted at disadvantaged workers, adults and youth in San Mateo County; and

WHEREAS, the Human Services Agency and the San Mateo County Workforce Investment Board in collaboration with Skyline College, Canada College and Genentech, have developed a bridge pathway program targeting disadvantaged workers, adults and youth, leading to entry-level positions in the bio-technology, allied health care fields, and college degree programs, which consists of career orientation, basic job skills enrichment, skills enhancement in reading and math, soft skills training, paid work experience, counseling, tutoring and support services leading to employment opportunities.

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of such grant award letter and said Board desires to accept the grant.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized and directed to accept the aforementioned grant for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo.
