RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING

 

Daly City’s

Make A Difference Day Program

Upon Receiving

The 2005 USA Weekend Magazine Award

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, the City of Daly City is the largest community by population in San Mateo County, and among the most diverse in the Bay Area; and

 

WHEREAS, since 2000, hundreds of volunteers of all ages and backgrounds have gathered yearly in Daly City on Make A Difference Day as part of the national effort to lend a collective hand to those who need it the most; and

 

WHEREAS, in October 2004, more than 300 people contributed their time, energies and selfless dedication to complete 10 projects throughout Daly City; and

 

WHEREAS, Daly City's commitment toward Make A Difference Day has again earned a national award from USA Weekend Magazine, which previously recognized Daly City in 2000; and

 

WHEREAS, Daly City's Make A Difference Day Program is San Mateo County's sole recipient of the 2005 USA Weekend Award, and remains focused on continuing its mission of making a real difference every day of the year.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates the Daly City Make A Difference Day Program and extends sincere wishes for many more years of continued success.
