BOARD MEETING DATE:

SPECIAL NOTICE/HEARING:

No

VOTE REQUIRED:

Yes

TO:

Honorable Board of Supervisors

FROM:

Richard Gordon

SUBJECT:

Appointment of Jackson Robertson to the Pescadero Municipal Advisory Council

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that Jackson Robertson be appointed to fill a vacancy on the Pescadero Municipal Advisory Council. Mr. Robertson would be serving a term that expires in November of 2006.

VISION ALIGNMENT:

Commitment: 2

Goal(s): Civic engagement -- including voting, public service, charitable giving, volunteerism, and participation in public discussions of important issues -- is uniformly high among the diverse population of San Mateo County.

BACKGROUND:

Meg DeLano, currently serving in District 4 (Loma Mar) for the Pescadero Municipal Advisory Council, has resigned her position.

The ordinance establishing the Pescadero Municipal Advisory Council calls for the PMAC to select a replacement whose appointment is then confirmed by the Board of Supervisors.

Mr. Robertson is 28 years old and lives with his wife, Chelsea.

He is a graduate of UC Santa Barbara, where he studied the History of Art & Architecture, Spanish and Anthropology. He founded the Investment Club at UCSB, growing enthusiasm in students and staff to educate themselves on important investment concepts.

He is employed by Ocean Colony Realty, after employment with Merrill Lynch in San Francisco. He enjoys oil painting, designing abalone jewelry, and teaching art classes for children.

I believe that Mr. Robertson is an ideal candidate to complete Ms. DeLano’s term.

FISCAL IMPACT:

None.
