RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING

 

Mike Nevin

Upon Being The

2005 HONOREE of

THE JANET POMEROY CENTER

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, Mike Nevin has been involved with The Janet Pomeroy Center since 1970, when he was still a member of the San Francisco Police Department; and

 

WHEREAS, Mike witnessed first-hand the benefits the Center provides to his mother-in-law Laura Powers and her son Jimmy Powers, an adult with disabilities; and

 

WHEREAS, Mike committed himself to ensuring that the Center continues to help disabled children and adults, now exceeding 2,000 individuals weekly; and

 

WHEREAS, Mike took valuable time from his myriad responsibilities as an SFPD Inspector, then as a three-term Daly City Council Member, then as a three-term San Mateo County Supervisor; and

 

WHEREAS, Mike eventually served on the Center’s Board of Directors from 1991 to 1996, and he maintains to this day his friendship with the Center.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Mike Nevin upon his recognition by The Janet Pomeroy Center for 35 years of continuous service and dedication.
