RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF S. 155 (FEINSTEIN), GANG PREVENTION AND EFFECTIVE DETERRENCE ACT OF 2005

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Probation Department has seen an increase in gang-related violence; and

WHEREAS, dedicating additional resources to gang prevention and deterrence can assist the County; and

WHEREAS, S. 155 would authorize approximately $650 million of the next five years to support Federal, State and local law enforcement efforts against violent gangs.

WHEREAS, support of S. 155 would help the County ensure basic health and safety for all and work toward Vision 2010 Goal #7—to maintain and enhance the public safety for all residents and visitors;

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors by adoption of this resolution does hereby support S. 155.
