COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING

The Daly City Youth Health Center

Upon Its

15th Anniversary

WHEREAS, the Daly City Youth Health Center started in 1990 as a collaborative effort by the Jefferson Union High School District and the San Mateo Medical Center to improve the health of youth in northern San Mateo County; and

   

WHEREAS, the Daly City Youth Health Center remains the sole public provider of high-quality healthcare services and advice focused on the needs of teens and young adults in northern San Mateo County; and

   

WHEREAS, over the years, the Daly City Youth Health Center has helped and supported countless thousands of young people and their families through a host of programs, including those for primary, reproductive and mental health, mentoring, health education, outreach, various types of counseling, vocational training and employment assistance; and

   

WHEREAS, in fiscal 2003-2004, the Daly City Youth Health Center served more than 4,000 medical patients, nearly 800 mental health patients, and responded to more than 2,400 crisis and urgent medical and mental health requests; and

   

WHEREAS, administrative, support and clerical staff join counselors from JUHSD and medical professionals from SMMC and a great number of tireless youth and adult volunteers to ensure that regional youth have a comfortable and confidential place to access critical healthcare services.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates the Daly City Youth Health Center on its 15th anniversary, and hereby extends sincere wishes for many more years of continued success.
