THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

COMMUNITY LAW NIGHT

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, COMMUNITY LAW NIGHT is a collaborative effort of the San Mateo County Superior Court, the San Mateo County Bar Association and the County of San Mateo to assist and educate county residents in addressing their legal issues; and

WHEREAS, COMMUNITY LAW NIGHT provides free informational lectures, one-on-one attorney consultations and information about available community resources to encourage county residents who cannot afford full legal representation to represent themselves in court especially in family law and small claims cases; and

WHEREAS, COMMUNITY LAW NIGHT was such an overwhelming success when it was first staged in May 2003 that it was repeated the following year and is now an annual collaborative effort of the agencies concerned; and

WHEREAS, this year’s COMMUNITY LAW NIGHT will provide bi-lingual lectures on “Family Law” and” How to Represent Yourself in Court”, 15-minute mini-consultations with over 50 volunteer attorneys participating and a legal resource program with representatives from 23 government agencies and non-profit organizations present,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, recognizes COMMUNITY LAW NIGHT as an important service to the community and commends all of the agencies collaborating for the staging of this event.
