THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

 

LIEUTENANT WAYNE SOUTH

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, on this third day of June, 2005, LIEUTENANT WAYNE SOUTH is honored for his more than twenty-six years of distinguished service in law enforcement for the Burlingame Police Department and the Millbrae Police Department; and

 

WHEREAS, LIEUTENANT WAYNE SOUTH began his career in law enforcement in January of 1971 with the Burlingame Police Department after graduating from the Basic Academy at the College of San Mateo; and

 

WHEREAS, during his tenure with the Burlingame Police Department, LIEUTENANT WAYNE SOUTH served in numerous capacities including patrol, investigations, juvenile, K-9 and S.W.A.T. for seven years; and

 

WHEREAS, LIEUTENANT WAYNE SOUTH was very active in community outreach to the neighboring high schools where he was a regular guest speaker at Mills High School and San Mateo High School and, in cooperation with the Social Studies Department at Burlingame High School, developed and taught a course entitled “Students and the Law” for seven years; and

   

WHEREAS, after a hiatus from law enforcement, LIEUTENANT WAYNE SOUTH joined the Millbrae Police Department in September of 1989 where he was promoted to Sergeant and later attained his current rank of Lieutenant; and

 

WHEREAS, LIEUTENANT WAYNE SOUTH became active in police training where he was Vice President of the San Mateo County Training Managers Association, a committee member for the redevelopment of the State Police Officers Standards and Training Supervisors course, and assisted in the development of the “21st Century Leadership Academy and Tools for Supervisors” courses,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County expresses congratulations and sincere gratitude to LIEUTENANT WAYNE SOUTH for more than twenty-six years of outstanding service to the community, and wishes much happiness and good health upon his retirement.
