RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO AND THE HEALTH PLAN OF SAN MATEO FOR SERVICES OF MEDICARE IMPLEMENTATION MANAGER

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the Health Plan of San Mateo is a county organized health system, which provides local control over administration of Medi-Cal and other related health services for residents of the County of San Mateo; and

WHEREAS, the Health Plan expects to receive federal authorization to implement a Medicare product in the very near future, which will improve access to health care in the county, and will also require specialized knowledge as well as intensive preparation and implementation in a very short time frame; and

WHEREAS, this implementation will benefit from the services of an employee who is familiar with the Medicare regulatory requirements, and the Health Plan and the County have agreed that a county employee will serve as Medicare Implementation Manager of the Health Plan of San Mateo and that the Health Plan will fully reimburse the county for the employee’s salary and related expenses for a period of one year, and have entered into an agreement for such services; and

WHEREAS, this Board has examined and approved the Agreement as to both form and content and desires to enter into same:

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Chair of the Board of Supervisors is hereby, authorized and directed to execute said agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo.
