RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING

Don R. Ciucci

Upon His Retirement As

Deputy Fire Chief

Daly City Fire Department

North County Fire Authority

WHEREAS, Don R. Ciucci is a San Francisco native, who since boyhood has adhered to the chivalric ideals personified by his lifelong hero, the Lone Ranger; and

   

WHEREAS, Don started his professional life in 1972 as an assistant planner with the Daly City Redevelopment Agency, but in February 1979 took a 50-percent salary reduction to join the Daly City Fire Department; and

   

WHEREAS, in 1986 Don helped to establish the San Mateo County Recruit Fire Academy and has developed two, 100-page training and procedure manuals widely used by fire agencies throughout California; and

   

WHEREAS, Don rose steadily through the ranks, becoming training officer in 1990, the position in which he made his deepest and most significant contributions; and

   

WHEREAS, for 15 years, Don guided countless firefighters from myriad agencies, showing them how to save the lives of others, while protecting themselves and their fellow professionals; and

   

WHEREAS, Don’s unwavering commitment to the overall community is underscored by his 25 years of tireless work with Operation Santa Claus, plus a host of other groups, reaching thousands of individuals and families in the Daly City-Colma-Pacifica region.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Don R. Ciucci upon his retirement and further commends him for single-handedly keeping alive the selfless spirit of the Lone Ranger in San Mateo County. The Board hereby extends to Don, his wife Debby and their two children, wishes for continuous success accompanied by many more years of peace and happiness.
