RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING | ||||

Upon Receiving The | ||||
2005 COPE Unity Award Presented by the San Mateo County Central Labor Council | ||||

WHEREAS, Ed Proctor, a Peninsula native, started driving buses for the Sequoia Union High School District to help pay for classes at the College of San Mateo; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Ed earned a degree in fire science from CSM and went to work in 1975 as a driver for the Belmont Urban Service, and a year later, for the then-newly created San Mateo County Transit District; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Ed’s passion for his buses remained steadfast throughout his life, from his marriage, through the arrival of both children, the 1983 strike and his return to CSM to obtain an accounting degree; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Ed has held various posts at Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1574, ranging from secretary-treasurer to president/business agent to serving as the local’s delegate to the San Mateo County Central Labor Council; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Ed has served his union brothers and sisters as recording secretary on the Labor Council’s Board of Directors and as its treasurer, and he continues to serve his overall community by volunteering in every way possible. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Ed Proctor as he receives the 2005 Unity Award from the San Mateo County Central labor Council. The Board hereby extends to Ed and his family sincere wishes for many more years of happiness and success. | ||||
