RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY TO PROVIDE REIMBURSEMENT TO THE SAN MATEO COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION FOR THE STUDENTS LIVING IN COUNTY SERVICE AREA NO. 8 (NORTH FAIR OAKS) TO ATTEND THE SAN MATEO COUNTY OUTDOOR EDUCATION PROGRAM

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, this Board is committed to providing equal access for educational opportunities and to realizing the potential of our diverse population; and

 

WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Office of Education provides a weeklong outdoor education program during the school year for elementary school children in the fifth or sixth grades and the County’s RecycleWorks program supports schools in the county by providing recycling assistance and environmental education on recycling and resource conservation; and

 

WHEREAS, the children who live in County Service Area No. 8, North Fair Oaks, would not be able to attend the outdoor education program of the San Mateo County Office of Education without financial support; and

 

WHEREAS, this Board finds it necessary and desirable to provide funding for the children living in County Service Area No. 8, North Fair Oaks, to attend the outdoor education program in the 2005-06 school year.

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED AND DETERMINED that the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized to reimburse the San Mateo County Office of Education for the cost of students living in North Fair Oaks to attend the Outdoor Education Program in the 2005 – 2006 school year, at a cost not to exceed $22,000, with the reimbursement coming from revenue generated in the County Service Area No. 8 Fund by the Garbage and Recyclables Collection User Fee.
