RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING 1) THE SUBMISSION OF THE STRATEGIC PLAN FOR SERVICES FOR OLDER ADULTS AND ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES
2005 – 2009 (PLAN) TO THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF AGING (CDA), AND 2) EXECUTION OF A TRANSMITTAL LETTER TO CDA REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE SUBMISSION PROCESS

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, this Board has designated itself as the Area Agency on Aging of San Mateo County to carry out a program pursuant to the Older Americans Act of 1965;

WHEREAS, the New Beginning Coalition in collaboration with the Commission on Aging, the Commission on Disabilities and various providers and consumers developed the Strategic Plan for 2005 – 2009 to replace the current Plan expiring on June 30, 2005;

WHEREAS, the new Plan addresses the current issues related to Health, Transportation, Affordable/Accessible Housing, Language and Culture, Abuse, Access to Information, ADA Accessibility, Supportive Services, Food and Nutrition, and Emergency Preparedness;

WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable that the Area Agency on Aging submit the Strategic Plan for Services for Older Adults and Adults with Disabilities 2005 – 2009, which is required for final approval of the Older Americans Act funding to provide senior services; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with the Plan and has reviewed and approved it as to form and content:

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors be and is hereby authorized and directed to execute the Transmittal Letter approving the completion of the submission process for the Plan.
