THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

 

DR. MARIAN WONG

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, on this twenty-first day of June, 2005, DR. MARIAN WONG is honored for her more than thirty-three years of distinguished service in public education; and

 

WHEREAS, in 1965, DR. MARIAN WONG graduated from San Francisco State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in English and went on to earn her Master’s Degree in 1985; and

 

WHEREAS, DR. MARIAN WONG began her illustrious career in public education in 1967 when she was hired as an English teacher at Burlingame High School; and

 

WHEREAS, over the years, DR. MARIAN WONG taught in various capacities throughout the San Mateo Union High School District where she primarily taught English and English as a second language; and

 

WHEREAS, between 1987 and 2001, DR. MARIAN WONG, transitioned from teacher to public school administrator holding numerous positions including Assistant Principal and then Director of Human Relations/Attendance & Welfare at Aragon High School; Assistant Principal at both San Mateo High School and Hillsdale High School; and

 

WHEREAS, in July 2001, with an impressive record of academic achievements, a true commitment to public education, and a strong desire to prepare our youth for their own successful and productive futures, DR. MARIAN WONG proudly accepted the position of Principal at Mills High School; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County expresses congratulations and sincere gratitude to DR. MARIAN WONG for more than thirty-three years of distinguished service to the entire San Mateo County High School District. Her proven leadership, enthusiastic dedication, and extraordinary commitment to teachers, administrators, parents, and students have served the community well and raised the bar of excellence in the District’s high quality of service in education.
