BACKGROUND

The Employee of the Month program was established in December 1984 to recognize and honor County employees who consistently demonstrate an outstanding level of performance.

Our Employee of the Month for July 2005 is Diane Dworkin, Supervising Mental Health Clinician, in the Mental Health Division of the Health Department.

DISCUSSION

A County employee since October 1999, Diane is a Supervising Mental Health Clinician who was nominated for Employee of the Month by over 10 colleagues. Dr. Harvey Dondershine nominated Diane for her “exceptional competence in clinical social work and program management but also because of her sense of humor.” Dr. Feeley praises Diane for being “extremely hard-working and dedicated to the population she serves.” Staff Nurse Li-ping Fan commends Diane for “being fair, caring, and available as a supervisor.” Psychiatric Social Worker Judith Winkelstein applauds Diane for “providing leadership, knowledge and support and for understanding extra tasks to serve the community.”

Diane is responsible for the Mental Health Division’s countywide senior mental health services, as well as those provided by the Central County Mental Health Clinic. As the countywide senior mental health services leader Diane directs clinical care including home-based services, senior peer counseling, clinic-based services and collaborations with all other senior-serving agencies. In her role as leader of the Central County Mental Health Clinic, Diane oversees clinical and case management services for 780 clients.

Our County is fortunate to have Diane Dworkin as one of its outstanding employees.
