Resolution Designating the County Manager or the Director of Public Works to Sign and File Documents with the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services - Scenic Drive Slide, Cuesta La Honda Area

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, a landslide occurred in March of 2005, that severally damaged Scenic Drive in the Cuesta La Honda Area of San Mateo County; and

WHEREAS, the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (OES) has determined that the County qualifies for State public assistance under the California Disaster Assistance Act (CDAA), and that an application can be made to obtain State funding to make permanent repairs to Scenic Drive; and

WHEREAS, OES requires that an agency applying for grant assistance authorize a person or persons to submit the application for assistance to the State as well as any assurances or agreements that may be required to receive said funding; and

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has recommended that the County Manager, or the Director of Public Works in the County Manager’s absence, be authorized to submit an application and other agreements and documents to OES as may be necessary to obtain said grant assistance; and

 

WHEREAS, this Board has considered and concurs in the recommendation of the Director of Public Works.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that

The County Manager, or the Director of Public Works in the County Manager’s absence, is hereby authorized to execute and to file an application in the State Office of Emergency Services, for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, a public entity establish under the laws of the State of California, for the purpose of obtaining certain federal financial assistance under Public Law 93-288 as amended by the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act of 1988, or state financial assistance under the Natural Disaster Assistance Act; and

The County Manager, or the Director of Public Works in the County Manager’s absence, are hereby authorized to provide the State Office of Emergency Services the assurances and agreements and other documents as may be necessary and required for all matters pertaining to such state disaster assistance.
