RESOLUTION

THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

UGO PIGNATI

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, UGO PIGNATI was born on June 27, 1951 in San Benedetto del Tronto, Italy and in 1963 emigrated with his family to San Francisco’s North Beach and attended Francisco Junior High, Galileo High School and St. Ignatius High School, graduating in 1969 after a very successful senior year in varsity soccer; and

WHEREAS, UGO PIGNATI was very active in his community starting in his teens by serving as club secretary, club supervisor and soccer coach with the Saints Peter and Paul Salesian Boy’s Club and in 1968 was chosen as the “Salesian Boy of the Year” and the Boys’ Clubs of America “Boy of the Year” for the San Francisco Bay Area; and

WHEREAS, after receiving a very low draft number in his sophomore year at the University of San Francisco, UGO PIGNATI joined the United States Naval Reserve and served for six years as an internal communications technician, went on to receive a degree in electronics from Heald Institute of Technology and has been employed for 29 years with Ricoh Business Systems, being honored in 1979 with Savin’s “Max M. Low Award” for technical service excellence and in June of 2005 with the “Outstanding Controller of the Year” award; and

WHEREAS, while volunteering as a Bingo worker and light and sound technician in the mid 1970s at Saint Francis of Assisi Church in North Beach, UGO PIGNATI met and in 1977 married Maria Fassio, and with her became the proud parents of Michael Anthony in 1982; and

WHEREAS, UGO PIGNATI has always been extremely involved in the Italian community, including the Circolo Marchigiano, the Italian Federation of California, the annual Columbus Day Celebration, the Peninsula Italian American Social Club and the Marche Club of San Francisco; and

WHEREAS, UGO PIGNATI also has had a long history with the Order Sons of Italy serving as a lodge Trustee, Financial Secretary and Vice President and with the Grand Lodge on the Auditing Commission, the Convention Guidelines Committee, the Building Commission, the 1993 San Francisco/Bay Area Lodges Convention Host Financial Committee and from 1995 to 2005 as the State Financial Secretary,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby extends their congratulations to UGO PIGNATI upon his many accomplishments and achievements both in the local community as well as statewide.
