Resolution Authorizing the Erection of Stop Signs at Various Intersections in Montara –
Main Street (County Road No. 1150) at 2nd Street (County Road No. 1143)
4th Street (County Road No. 1141) at East Avenue (County Road No. 1153)
6th Street (County Road No. 1139-A) at East Avenue (County Road No. 1153)

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has evaluated the geometry of the intersections of Main Street with 2nd Street; 4th Street with East Avenue; and 6th Street with East Avenue; and

 

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works, based on the aforesaid evaluations, has recommended that:

 

a)

a stop sign by placed to stop traffic on Main Street and the right-of-way be assigned to traffic on 2nd Street as 2nd Street is the through street at this intersection;

 

b)

stop signs be placed at the “T”-intersection of 4th Street and East Avenue to create a 3-way stop as the intersection is used by school children as a route to the Farallone View School; and

 

c)

stop signs be placed at the intersection of 6th Street and East Avenue to create a 4-way stop due to the limited sight distance in this area; and

 

WHEREAS, this Board has considered and concurs with the recommendations of the Director of Public Works.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized to install stop signs at the following intersections:

 

(1)

On Main Street, County Road No. 1150, in order to direct traffic on Main Street to stop and yield the right-of-way before entering the intersection of Main Street at 2nd Street.

 

(2)

At the intersection of 4th Street, County Road No. 1141, and East Avenue, County Road No. 1153, in order to create a 3-way stop.

 

(3)

At the intersection of 6th Street, County Road No. 1139-A, and East Avenue, County Road No. 1153, in order to create a 4-way stop.
