THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

 

CHENGZONG YIN

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, on this twenty-fourth day of September, 2005, CHENGZONG YIN is honored for his gracious generosity and philanthropic selflessness in performing a benefit piano concert for the City of Millbrae Adult Senior Programs; and

 

WHEREAS, CHENGZONG YIN was born on China’s “Piano Island” of Gulangyu in Xiamen, Fujian Province where he began studying piano at a young age performing in his first recital at age nine; and

 

WHEREAS, CHENGZONG YIN studied at premiere music institutions during his formidable years including the pre-college of the Shanghai Conservatory, the Central Conservatory in Beijing and the Leningrad Conservatory; and

 

WHEREAS, CHENGZONG YIN has won numerous awards throughout his tenure including the gold medal at the World Youth Peace and Friendship Festival and second prize in the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow and he has released more than 20 albums capturing his musical excellence and breadth of knowledge for the art; and

 

WHEREAS CHENGZONG YIN has played throughout the world with numerous orchestras including the Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, the China National Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra; and

   

WHEREAS, CHENGZONG YIN is a world renowned, accomplished pianist who has played for millions of individuals throughout the world including Xiamen, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Vienna, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Toronto, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and now Millbrae,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County expresses congratulations and sincere gratitude to CHENGZONG YIN for his inspiring contributions to music and for his compassion and goodwill toward the betterment of our community. The Board wishes him much happiness and continued success.
