THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA DESIGNATING

October 10, 2005

AS

PACIFIC GAS & ELECTRIC COMPANY DAY

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, Pacific Gas and Electric Company has provided vital utility services in the County of San Mateo for 100 years with hard-working employees that genuinely care about the County and is celebrating its centennial anniversary this year; and

WHEREAS, Pacific Gas and Electric Company contributes greatly to the County of San Mateo’s tax revenues, which help to fund essential services; and

WHEREAS, Pacific Gas and Electric Company employees have worked side by side with the police, fire and sheriff’s departments to keep the residents of San Mateo County safe during storms and natural disasters; and

   

WHEREAS, Pacific Gas and Electric Company has made a major workforce investment in San Mateo County, employing over 1100 workers in San Mateo County, with approximately one-thousand employees and four-hundred retirees living in San Mateo County; and

   

WHEREAS, Pacific Gas and Electric Company annually provides funding to various County-based non-profit organizations which provide vital assistance with human services, education, art and culture, and economic and community development serving the needs of the diverse communities, ethnic and gender groups in San Mateo County; and

 

WHEREAS, Pacific Gas and Electric Company Asian Employees Association, Black Employees Association, Filipino Employees Association, Hispanic Employees Association, Pride Network Employees Association and Women’s Network Employees Association and individual employees have all actively participated in volunteering efforts throughout San Mateo County.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby designates October 10, 2005, as Pacific Gas and Electric Company Day, and joins the Pacific Gas and Electric Company in celebrating its centennial anniversary.
