Appointment to the Drug and Alcohol Advisory Board

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that James Stansberry be appointed to be a member of the Drug and Alcohol Advisory Board. This appointment would be to a “Treatment” position and the term of the appointment would be through 12/31/06.

BACKGROUND:

There are currently three vacancies on the Drug and Alcohol Advisory Board. The Clerk of the Board has received one application.

The submitted application is from James Stansberry. He has a wealth of experience in the field of dependency treatment as one of the founders of Project 90, a long-time treatment center in San Mateo County. He served as its director from 1989 to 2004, and still serves on their Board.

He has also served on the Homeless and Health Care Advisory Board in San Mateo County, on the Executive Group Committee for the San Mateo County Alcohol and Other Drug Providers Coalition, the THRIVE alliance, and the Alcohol and Drug Advisory Boards for the College of San Mateo and Notre Dame.

His many years of experience in this field make him an ideal addition to the Drug and Alcohol Advisory Board.
