THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

 

DEAN EDWARDS

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, on this tenth day of October, 2005, DEAN EDWARDS is honored for more than 50 years of tireless dedication and steadfast commitment to education; and

 

WHEREAS, in 1955, DEAN EDWARDS began his illustrious career as a teacher and future school administrator in Bieber, California where he first taught classes while he attended night school to obtain his degree; and

 

WHEREAS, DEAN EDWARDS moved to the Bay Area and started working for the Millbrae Elementary School District in 1958 where he accepted a teaching position at Taylor Middle School; and

 

WHEREAS, while teaching at Taylor, DEAN EDWARDS earned both his Bachelors and his Masters Degree in public education; and

 

WHEREAS, throughout his 39 years with the Millbrae Elementary School District, DEAN EDWARDS held a variety of teaching and administrative positions at three different schools including teacher/Vice Principal at Green Hills Elementary School, Principal of Spring Valley Elementary School, Principal of Taylor Middle School and Principal at Green Hills Elementary School before he retired in 1997; and

 

WHEREAS, following his retirement, DEAN EDWARDS became a consultant for the Millbrae Elementary School District where he continues to assist the District in various capacities including his assistance to the Director of Curriculum to ensure the Millbrae Elementary School District’s compliance with the No Child Left Behind Act; and

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County expresses congratulations and sincere gratitude to DEAN EDWARDS for his more than 50 years of dedicated service to education. The Board wishes him much happiness and continued success.
