THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA DESIGNATING OCTOBER 18th, 2005 AS

THE START OF THE 2005 FOOD DRIVE FOR SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK

WHEREAS the need for donations of money and food for hungry people in San Mateo County is increasing; and

   

WHEREAS Second Harvest Food Bank collects and distributes much-needed food items to help address the problem of hunger in our community; and

   

WHEREAS on October 18th, 2005, the Food Bank will commence with the one of largest food drives in the nation and will be collecting financial and food donations in support of the annual Holiday Food Drive; and

   

WHEREAS the drive is in coordination with over 500 corporations, community groups, and citizens and all financial and food donations will be distributed to needy San Mateo County citizens; and

 

WHEREAS the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors commends Second Harvest Food Bank for their caring and compassion for the hungry in our County; and

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, designates October 18th, 2005 as the kick off for the 2005 Food Drive and hereby urges all citizens of our county to help alleviate hunger in our community by making either a financial or food donation of non-perishable groceries to Second Harvest Food Bank
