RESOLUTION WAIVING THE REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL PROCESS AND AUTHORIZING THE EMPLOYEE AND PUBLIC SERVICES DIRECTOR UPON COUNTY COUNSEL APPROVAL TO SIGN AN AMENDMENT TO AN AGREEMENT WITH SECURE HORIZONS FOR RETIREE HEALTH COVERAGE FROM JANUARY 1, 2006 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2006.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the County and participants in the plan to retain Secure Horizons because its continuation provides affordable coverage with little disruption in doctor-patient relationships; and

WHEREAS, the County desires to approve an agreement with Secure Horizons to provider coverage from January 1, 2006 through December 31, 2006; and

WHEREAS, health plans will be delayed in providing contracts to employers because of their implementation of Medicare Part D requirements:

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors waives the Request for Proposal process and authorizes the Employee and Public Services Director upon County Counsel approval to sign an agreement with Secure Horizons.
