THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

 

JUNIPERO SERRA HIGH SCHOOL

ON THE COMPLETION OF THEIR BUILDING PROJECT - PHASE I

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

 

WHEREAS, JUNIPERO SERRA HIGH SCHOOL was founded in 1944 at the site of St. Bartholomew’s Church and was moved to its present location at 451 West 20th Avenue in San Mateo in 1955; and

   
 

WHEREAS, the JUNIPERO SERRA HIGH SCHOOL complex sits on twelve and one half acres of land and has 995 students currently enrolled at the school; and

   
 

WHEREAS, JUNIPERO SERRA HIGH SCHOOL, seeing the need for new and improved buildings after almost 50 years of use, began planning a 15 million dollar Phase I Building Project, in 2002; and

   
 

WHEREAS, JUNIPERO SERRA HIGH SCHOOL’s Phase I Building Project consists of the renovation of the Athletic Facilities including a new football field and bleacher building, a new weight room, a new wresting room, additional classrooms and storage, a new baseball bleacher building with team room and a parking structure,

   
 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby honors and commends JUNIPERO SERRA HIGH SCHOOL on the completion of Phase I of their Building Project which provides better utilization of space for their students, an improved appearance of the school and has added to the quality of life in the neighborhood.
