THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
*RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING*
*GEORGE R. COREY* *AS MILLBRAE’S* *2005 MAN OF THE YEAR*

WHEREAS, on this twenty-sixth day of October 2005, GEORGE R. COREY is being honored at Millbrae’s 33rd Annual Man and Woman of the Year Awards Dinner for his outstanding contributions to the City of Millbrae; and

WHEREAS, GEORGE R. COREY began his career as an attorney in Millbrae thirty years ago and has since founded the Peninsula Bank which was recognized as Millbrae’s Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year in 2002; and

WHEREAS, GEORGE R. COREY is a respected leader in the Millbrae community where he serves as a supporter and Board member of PAL, a sponsor for the Mills High School and Capuchino High School Sports Programs, a financial contributor to the Millbrae Rotary luncheon for Mills and Capuchino High School football players and a longtime volunteer for the Millbrae Art & Wine Festival; and

WHEREAS, GEORGE R. COREY has been exceedingly generous to the Millbrae non-profit community by consistently providing pro bono services to help many groups set up foundations such as Millbrae Crime Stoppers, Millbrae Community Foundation, Millbrae Sports and Recreation Foundation, Landslide Families, Millbrae Lions and Youth in Government Week, and the Chetcuti Family; and

*WHEREAS, GEORGE R. COREY has been referred to by many as the “Mayor of Broadway,” “Ambassador of Millbrae,” and the “Heart and Soul of the Community.”*

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County expresses congratulations and gratitude to GEORGE R. COREY for his many years of dedication and exemplary service to Millbrae and for his welcome advice and generous support to numerous philanthropic causes that promote the health and well-being of the entire community.
