Appointment to the Parks and Recreation Commission

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that Teresa Ferrer Guingona of Daly City be appointed as a member of the Parks and Recreation Commission. This appointment to the 5^th District’s seat would be through 1/3/09.

BACKGROUND:

The 5^th District’s seat on the Parks and Recreation Commission has been open since Jan. 3, 2005, when then-Commissioner Adrienne J. Tissier took office as a county supervisor. Since taking office, Supervisor Tissier has interviewed four people to fill the open commission seat. Ms. Guingona is the fourth candidate.

Ms. Guingona offers a tremendous amount of experience in the public sector dealing with North County’s diverse youth population. She also is well respected in the Filipino American community and brings to the Commission her cultural background. Her collective knowledge and experiences will be assets for the Commission as well as the County as a whole.
