THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

 

JOE GALLIGAN

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, on this twenty-first day of November, 2005, JOE GALLIGAN is honored for more than eight years of distinguished service to the City of Burlingame as a member of the Burlingame City Council; and

 

WHEREAS, after two years on the Burlingame Civil Service Commission, JOE GALLIGAN was elected to the Burlingame City Council in 1997 where he served as Mayor in 2001 and 2005; and

 

WHEREAS, during his tenure with the Burlingame City Council, JOE GALLIGAN served on numerous boards and commissions including the Transportation Authority, City/County Association of Governments, City/Schools Liaison Committee, Chamber of Commerce Liaison and the Audit Committee; and

WHEREAS, JOE GALLIGAN has also been active in the community by serving on numerous civic and charitable organizations including ABC Yes Committee, Burlingame High School Site Advisory Council, Burlingame Together Leadership Team, Burlingame Elementary Schools Blue Ribbon Committee, San Mateo Union High School District Budget Review Committee, Peninsula Bank of Commerce Board of Directors, Past President of the Burlingame Rotary and Mission Hospice Board of Directors, as well as AYSO Soccer volunteer, coach and referee; and

   

WHEREAS, some of the many accomplishments that highlight JOE GALLIGAN’S dedication to his community include funding for the Aquatic Center and the Olympic size pool, after-school programs, and the all weather football/soccer field at Burlingame High School,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County expresses congratulations to JOE GALLIGAN for more than eight years of distinguished service as a member of the Burlingame City Council. His proven leadership, fiscal prudence, tireless dedication and extraordinary commitment have served the community well.
