RESOLUTION
   

THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

 

MARLAND TOWNSEND

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, on this 5th day of December, two thousand and five, MARLAND TOWNSEND is honored for his years of loyal and dedicated community service and upon his retirement from the City Council of Foster City; and

 

WHEREAS, MARLAND TOWNSEND was elected to the City Council of Foster City in 1993, served as Vice-Mayor in 1995 and 2003, and as Mayor of Foster City in 2001 and 2004; and

 

WHEREAS, MARLAND TOWNSEND is a long time Foster City resident and Chairman of CETACEA Corporation, a Foster City based business which is a member of the Foster City Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, MARLAND TOWNSEND is a member of the Foster City Rotary Club, a nature docent at Filoli, and a member of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots; and

   

WHEREAS, MARLAND TOWNSEND represented the Peninsula Division on the Board of Directors of the League of California Cities, served as Chair of the San Francisco International Airport/Community Roundtable, Chair of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District Board of Directors, is a member of the San Mateo Council of Cities Legislative Committee, and Chair of the City/County Association of Governments Congestion Management and Air Quality Committee; and

 

WHEREAS, MARLAND TOWNSEND has exercised his legislative and appointive responsibilities with skill and wisdom and has been sincerely dedicated to the welfare of the citizens of Foster City and to the progress, prosperity and the beautification of this City; and

 

WHEREAS, MARLAND TOWNSEND’s achievements during his term of office will be remembered by the citizens for years to come, has demonstrated his leadership through tireless devotion of time and talent, and is admired by many dear friends and colleagues who will miss him terribly,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County extend their congratulations to MARLAND TOWNSEND upon his retirement from the City Council of Foster City and best wishes for continued success.
