RESOLUTION WAIVING THE REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL PROCESS AND AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO SIGN AN AMENDMENT WITH ING RELIASTAR FOR PROVISION OF LIFE INSURANCE, SUPPLEMENTAL LIFE INSURANCE AND SHORT TERM DISABILITY BENEFITS FOR COUNTY EMPLOYEES FOR THE PERIOD FROM JANUARY 1, 2006 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2007.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the County and participants in the plan to retain ING Reliastar coverage because of its low life insurance and competitive short term disability costs with less disruption than other comparable plans; and

WHEREAS, the County desires to waive the RFP process and authorize the President to sign an agreement with ING Reliastar to provide coverage from January 1, 2006 through December 31, 2007; and

WHEREAS, the ING Reliastar proposed agreement represents no increase in costs for the next two years:

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors waives the RFP process and authorizes the President of the Board of Supervisors to sign an amendment with ING Reliastar.
