Re:

Appointment to the Midcoast Community Council

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that John Weston be appointed to the Midcoast Community Council to fill a seat vacated by resignation. The term begins upon appointment by the Board of Supervisors and will terminate on 11/30/2007.

BACKGROUND:

The Board of Supervisors has the role of making appointments to fill seats opened through resignation on the Midcoast Community Council. The current opening on the Midcoast Community Council was created by resignation of former Council member Charles Gardner.

As in previous cases, the Board of Supervisors has relied on the Midcoast Community Council to review all applications to make a recommendation for the Board’s consideration.

Seven applications received for the position. The Midcoast Community Council interviewed the following: Sandy Calman – Montara, John Weston - El Granada, L.E. Boydston – Montara, Christopher Bauman – Montara, Paul McReynolds – Miramar, Michael Clardy - El Granada and Thomas Daly – Miramar.

Of these candidates, the Midcoast Community Council has forwarded a recommendation that the Board of Supervisors appoint John Weston to fill the vacancy. John brings 10 years of experience in collaborative standardization through committee work in his field of biomedical engineering. His interests include Midcoast drainage and Planning and Zoning issues, meetings of which he has attended leading up to his application to the Midcoast Community Council. John is a resident of El Granda.
