Resolution Authorizing the Removal of Signs Prohibiting Entry to Stanford Avenue at its Intersection with Sand Hill Road and to Leland Avenue at its Intersection with Sand Hill Road in the Menlo Park Area

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the traffic restrictions in the University Park Subdivision area were requested by residents concerned about the speed and amount of traffic using their residential streets to either avoid the intersection of Sand Hill Road and Santa Cruz Avenue, or to "short cut" through their neighborhood to access the Stanford Shopping Center, Stanford Hospital or the Stanford Campus; and

WHEREAS, the majority of the Stanford University construction project at the intersection of Sand Hill Road and Santa Cruz Avenue has been completed; and

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has recommended that the signs prohibiting entry to Leland Avenue and Stanford Avenue from Sand Hill Road between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. be removed, and that the impacts to traffic within the University Park Subdivision area be evaluated following said removal; and

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has further recommended that the signs prohibiting entry to Palo Alto Way from Santa Cruz Avenue and to Vine Street east of Perry Avenue between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., and the signs prohibiting entry to Vine Street from Oak Avenue between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. remain posted during the evaluation period; and

WHEREAS, this Board has considered and concurs with the recommendation of the Director of Public Works.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized to remove the signs prohibiting entry to Leland Avenue at Sand Hill Road and to Stanford Avenue at Sand Hill Road.
