Resolution Rejecting the One Bid Received and Authorizing the Director of Public Works to Re-Advertise for the Retrofitting of Lighting Fixtures at 555 County Center (Project No. P9K01)

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, this Board of Supervisors, on December 13, 2005, adopted Resolution No. 067742, which Resolution authorized the Director of Public Works to call for sealed bids of the Retrofitting of Lighting Fixtures at 555 County Center; and

WHEREAS, the Clerk of this Board of Supervisors received one sealed proposal for doing of the work referred to in said Resolution No. 067742 on January 4, 2006; and

WHEREAS, the only bid received for the project is substantially more than the Engineer’s estimate; and

WHEREAS, Section 22038 of the Public Contract Code provides that a public agency may, at its discretion, reject all bids as presented and re-advertise that same work for bid; and

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has recommended that the one bid be rejected and that the Director of Public Works be authorized to re-advertise the project for bid; and

WHEREAS, this Board has considered and concurs in the recommendation of the Director of Public Works.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that:

1.

The one bid received on January 4, 2006, from Enlight Energy Efficient Lighting, Inc., is hereby rejected.

2.

The Director of Public Works is hereby authorized to re-advertise the project for bid.
