General Description of RFP |
The purpose of the Workforce Investment Act’s (“WIA”) youth program is to provide eligible youth seeking assistance in achieving academic and employment success with effective and comprehensive services which include options for improving educational and skill competencies that will lead to longer term academic and occupational learning opportunities and provide effective connections to employers. WIA Youth Services providers are selected under a competitive process as required by the Workforce Investment Act under Section 117(d)(2)(B) “local board shall identify eligible providers of youth activities in the local area by awarding grants or contracts on a competitive basis.” The Workforce Development Division of San Mateo County published a public notice in the San Mateo County Times announcing the release of a Request For Proposals (RFP) for WIA Comprehensive Year Round Youth Services on August 2, 2004. The WIB’s Youth Advisory Committee approved the RFP and it was released on August 16 to interested providers. An informational conference was held on August 18, 2004.
