RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT

WITH MEDQUIST TRANSCRIPTIONS, LTD.

TO PROVIDE MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION SERVICES

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, transcribed reports provide for the availability of health information throughout San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC), including Clinics and the Emergency Room, for continuation and quality of patient care; and

WHEREAS, the contract with MedQuist Transcriptions, LTD. expires April 30, 2006 and in anticipation of this and with an interest in testing the current marketplace for newer, higher quality, and lower cost services, SMMC conducted a Request for Proposal (RFP) process in September, 2005; and

WHEREAS, two, out of six vendors who submitted proposals, were selected for further evaluation based on quality, pricing, experience, and references; and

WHEREAS, SMMC is negotiating terms and needs an additional three months to complete these negotiations and begin implementation of a new transcription system; and

WHEREAS, the parties wish to further amend the Agreement with MedQuist Transcriptions, LTD. to provide transcription services at SMMC, extending the term of the Agreement by three months, making the new term May 1, 2001 to July 31, 2006, and increasing the maximum amount of the agreement by $350,000, from $5,254,622 to $5,604,622; and

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board of Supervisors for its consideration and acceptance, and Amendment to the Agreement between the County of San Mateo and MedQuist Transcriptions, LTD, reference to which is hereby made for further particulars, and the Board of Supervisors has examined and approved the same as to form and content and desires to enter into the same.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Amendment to the Agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President’s signature thereto.
