RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPROVAL OF A THIRD AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH HAGMAN ASSOCIATES ARCHITECTS FOR ARCHITECTURAL EXPENSES IN THE REHABILITATION OF THE SAFE HARBOR SHELTER; AND AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING TO EXECUTE SUBSEQUENT AMENDMENTS AND MINOR MODIFICATIONS IN THE TYPES OF SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES PROVIDED BY HAGMAN ASSOCIATES ARCHITECTS UNDER THE AGREEMENT, THE CUMULATIVE COST OF WHICH AMENDMENTS AND MODIFICATIONS IS NOT TO EXCEED $25,000

WHEREAS, on November 9, 2004, under Agreement #067034 (“the Original Agreement”), the County and Hagman Associates Architects (“the parties”) entered into an Agreement to provide $135,000 from CDBG funds for architectural services in the rehabilitation of the Safe Harbor Shelter located at 295 North Access Road in South San Francisco (“the Project”); and

 

WHEREAS, on April 26, 2005, under Resolution #067267 (“the First Amendment”), the County provided $42,000 of additional CDBG funds for a total amount of $177,000 to accommodate additional project requirements including but not limited to providing an accessible interior chair lift; and

 

WHEREAS, on October 18, 2005, under Resolution #067603 (“the Second Amendment”), the County provided $50,000 of additional CDBG funds for a total amount of $227,000 to accommodate additional project requirements including but not limited to the addition of a fire rated stair enclosure; and

 

WHEREAS, additional funding in the amount of $175,000 is needed to accommodate hard (modular units, cots, temporary fencing) and soft (architecture fees, portable restroom servicing, inspections) costs for the Construction Phase of the project, details of which are presented in Exhibit B of the Third Amendment to the Original Agreement; and

 

WHEREAS, under this Third Amendment, the parties wish to add the amount of $175,000 from CDBG funds for a new total of $402,000, to provide architectural and project management services in the Rehabilitation of the Safe Harbor Shelter, for the period 11/1/2004 through 12/31/2006; and

 

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board of Supervisors for its consideration and acceptance the Third Amendment to the Agreement between the County of San Mateo and Hagman Associates Architects, reference to which is hereby made for further particulars, and the Board of Supervisors has examined and approved the same as to form and content and desires to enter into the same.

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Third Amendment to the Agreement with Hagman Associates Architects for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President’s signature thereto.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Director of the Department of Housing shall be authorized to execute subsequent amendments and minor modifications for additional required services and activities provided by Hagman Associates Architects under the Agreement, the cumulative cost of which amendments and modifications is not to exceed $25,000.
