Employee of the Month for March 2006

RECOMMENDATION

Honor Hussain Taiby as Employee of the Month for March 2006 and authorize the President of the Board to sign the commendation.

BACKGROUND

The Employee of the Month program was established in December 1984 to recognize and honor County employees who consistently demonstrate an outstanding level of performance.

Our Employee of the Month for March 2006 is Hussain Taiby, a Pharmacy Technician at the San Mateo Medical Center.

DISCUSSION

A County employee since October 2003, Hussain performs a variety of tasks related to receiving, distributing, controlling, maintaining, packaging and labeling pharmaceutical products. His position as a Pharmacy Technician requires a wealth of knowledge, including medical terminology, basic pharmacology, state and federal pharmacy regulations, operation of various machines, etc. Hussain is in fact an expert in operating the Pyxis machine, which automates the distribution, tracking, security and management of medications.

Hussain was nominated by Staff Nurse Carol Chan on behalf of the entire Operating Room Staff. Carol praises Hussain for his patience and kindness with hospital staff. He is always responsive to requests from staff and his warm personality and rapport make everyone feel comfortable.

Our County is fortunate to have Hussain Taiby as one of its outstanding employees.
