THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA DESIGNATING APRIL 2006 AS

CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County that the month of April be designated as CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH; and

   

WHEREAS, every child in San Mateo County is a precious gift, full of promise and potential; and

   

WHEREAS, child abuse and neglect is a serious problem in San Mateo County and across the nation; and

   

WHEREAS, in April 2006, San Mateo County convened a multidisciplinary task force to work on developing a plan to educate the community and answer the question “ What do I do when the baby does not stop crying;” and

 

WHEREAS, the prevention of child abuse is crucial to the preservation of the health and well-being of San Mateo County’s families, and CAN be accomplished by providing support and information to families as well as through increased community awareness; and

   

WHEREAS, all children learn from role models at home, at their place of worship, at school, and in their communities and all children benefit from the love and leadership displayed by caring and responsible adults; and

   

WHEREAS, children are our most precious resource and San Mateo County is committed to keeping all children safe and happy.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby proclaims APRIL 2006 as CHILD ABUSE AWARENESS MONTH.
