RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING | ||||
Ashley Yates | ||||
Upon Her Induction Into The | ||||
San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame Young Woman of Excellence | ||||

WHEREAS, Ashley Yates maintains a 3.7 GPA as a senior at Capuchino High School in San Bruno and is president of the campus’ associated student body; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Ashley is vice-president of Interact, a Rotary-sponsored service organization, and active with the Junior Statesmen of America, the Peninsula Humane Society as well as playing the violin for the San Bruno Youth Orchestra; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Ashley has helped with homecoming activities, annual blood drives, fundraising walkathons, plus competitive track and field and swimming; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Ashley and her twin, Madison, lost their father some five years ago to cancer, and the family has spent extended periods in several shelters, with Ashley known as the “glue” holding everything together with love and dignity; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Ashley’s focus, dedication and extraordinary spirit exemplify the best of San Mateo County’s youth and her future is indeed bright. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Ashley Yates upon her induction into the San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame as a Young Woman of Excellence, and extends to Ashley and her family its heartfelt gratitude and adds sincere wishes for continued success. | ||||

WHEREAS, Madison Yates maintains a 3.76 GPA as a senior at Capuchino High School in San Bruno and is president of the campus’ senior class of 2006; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Madison is a member of Interact, a Rotary-sponsored service organization, and helped deliver wheelchairs to Mexico in 2005; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Madison also represented her school at Girls’ State, serves meals to the homeless each Sunday at San Francisco’s Glide Memorial Church, volunteers at Peninsula Humane Society and plays the guitar and the clarinet; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Madison and her twin, Ashley, lost their father some five years ago, and the family has spent extended periods in several shelters; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Madison’s focus, dedication and extraordinary spirit are magnified by her own battle with cancer as an 18-month-old toddler. Madison exemplifies the best of San Mateo County’s youth and her future is indeed bright. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Madison Yates upon her induction into the San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame as a Young Woman of Excellence, and extends to Madison and her family its heartfelt gratitude and adds sincere wishes for continued success. | ||||
