RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING APRIL 3-9 | ||||
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT WEEK | ||||
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * | ||||
WHEREAS, the YOUTH DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE OF SAN MATEO COUNTY was created to help bridge the gap between youths and adults: and | ||||
WHEREAS, the YOUTH DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE has fostered environments where young people’s opinions are heard, their contributions encouraged, and involvement in current issues promoted; and | ||||
WHEREAS, through the Youth Commission, young people in San Mateo have taken an active role in shaping and advancing innovative and creative solutions to a wide range of subjects, from mental health to parks to tobacco, drug and alcohol abuse; and | ||||
WHEREAS, through the YOUTH DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE, a county-wide youth-led Youth Needs Assessment is underway, which will provide County leaders with an accurate and detailed report on the current status of programs that affect young people; and | ||||
WHEREAS, in 2005, San Mateo County was selected by America’s Promise as one of the 100 Best Communities in the nation because of its dedication to positive youth development; | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County does hereby proclaims April 3-9 “YOUTH DEVELOPMENT WEEK”, and reaffirms its commitment to providing the opportunities and tools to the young people of this county that will ensure their continued growth, valued participation, and success! | ||||
