BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY AND COUNTY OF SAN FRANCISCO FOR DISTRIBUTION OF FUNDS TO SAN MATEO COUNTY AS PART OF THE FY2005 URBAN AREA SECURITY INITIATIVE (UASI) FEDERAL GRANT

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that:

WHEREAS, in 2005, the City and County of San Francisco was awarded funding through the FY2005 Urban Area Security Initiative grant, distributed through the California Office of Homeland Security, to enhance the ability to prevent, deter, respond to, and recover from threats and incidents of terrorism and natural disasters; and

WHEREAS, the San Francisco Office of Emergency Services (SFOES) serves as the local administrator for the FY2005 UASI grant award; and

WHEREAS, SFOES identified the County of San Mateo as one of the contiguous counties and mutual aid partners for the greater San Francisco urban region to partner with the City and to receive a portion of funding from the FY2005 UASI Grant; and

WHEREAS, as part of the FY2005 grant requirements, the County of San Mateo must enter into an Agreement with the City and County of San Francisco to receive a portion of the grant award, in the amount of Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($750,000), which has been designated to fund four senior-level positions to co-locate with SFOES and to participate in regional planning, training, and development of regional preparedness exercises; and

WHEREAS, once the Agreement has been fully approved by both parties, a decision package and report will be brought back to this Board of Supervisors to implement the addition and funding of said positions; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of such Agreement, and has examined and approved same as to both form and content, and desires to enter into same:

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED THAT the President of this Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized to, execute the Agreement with the City and County of San Francisco, for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board of Supervisors shall attest the President’s signature thereto.
