RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO SERVICE AGREEMENTS WITH CITIES FOR GANG INTELLIGENCE AND INVESTIGATIONS UNIT SERVICES

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, on September 27, 2005, this Board approved the creation of a Sheriff’s Gang Intelligence and Investigations Unit to support the Countywide Gang Task Force. The Gang Intelligence and Investigations Unit represents a collaborative approach to addressing the issue of gangs in San Mateo County.

WHEREAS, this Board finds that the accomplishments of the Countywide Gang Task Force and the Gang Intelligence and Investigations Unit have been significant. There have been numerous arrests along with identification of the top three criminal street gangs in San Mateo County;

WHEREAS, this Board has determined that the Gang Intelligence and Investigations Unit should include two city Police Officers and one Deputy Probation Officer to better coordinate the intelligence efforts between cities and the County;

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED THAT the County Manager be authorized to enter into Service Agreements with Cities for Gang Intelligence and Investigations Unit Services to be provided by Police Officers.
