RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING

Daly City

Host Lions Club

Upon Its

65^th Anniversary

WHEREAS, since 1941, the Daly City Host Lions Club has maintained a presence in northern San Mateo County, never wavering from its motto of “We Serve;” and

WHEREAS, through the Lions Eye Foundation, the Daly City Host Lions continue to raise funds for vision health and services, including the Lions Project for Canine Companions for Independence; and

WHEREAS, over the years, the Daly City Host Lions also have collected more than $50,000 for recycling efforts, keeping an estimated seven million cans and bottles out of landfills; and

WHEREAS, the Daly City Host Lions foster global awareness through the Lions International Peace Poster Contest, as well as national pride and historical knowledge through annual Flag Day activities with local elementary school students; and

WHEREAS, in addition, the Daly City Host Lions give of their collective time in partnership with several community groups, ranging from the North Peninsula Food Pantry and Dining Center to the Daly City Police Athletic League to Daly City’s annual Fil-Am festival, plus specific projects, such as Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates the Daly City Host Lions Club on its 65^th anniversary, and extends sincere wishes for at least another seven decades of success and excellence guided by the motto of “We Serve.”
