THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA DESIGNATING MAY 21-27, 2006 AS

NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK

PROCLAIMED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

   

WHEREAS, PUBLIC WORKS services provided in our community are an integral part of our citizens' everyday lives; and

   

WHEREAS, the support of an understanding and informed citizenry is vital to the efficient operation of PUBLIC WORKS programs and systems such as water, sewer, streets, public buildings, and other types of facilities; and

   

WHEREAS, the health, sanitation, safety and general well-being of this community depends, to a great degree, on these services and facilities; and

 

WHEREAS, the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of these facilities, as well as their planning, design and construction are vitally dependent upon the qualified and dedicated personnel who staff PUBLIC WORKS departments; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County designates May 21-27, 2006, as NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK IN SAN MATEO COUNTY and calls upon all citizens and civic organizations to acquaint themselves with the issues involved in providing PUBLIC WORKS facilities and services, and to recognize the important role of PUBLIC WORKS departments in our community in our safety, health and well-being.
