RECOMMENDATION:
|
|
Adopt a Resolution authorizing the Chief Elections Officer to render specified election services for the Peninsula Healthcare District in conjunction with a special mail ballot election to be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2006

The goal is to complete all pre and post unofficial and official canvass processes with certification of the election by the 28 day after Election Day.

BACKGROUND:
|
According to Elections Code §10002, the governing body of any city or district may request the Board of Supervisors of the County to permit the County Elections Official to render specified services to the city or district relating to the conduct of an election. Subject to approval of the Board of Supervisors, these services shall be performed by the Chief Elections Officer.
|

DISCUSSION:
|
In accordance with State Law, a resolution was filed by the Peninsula Healthcare District requesting the Chief Elections Officer to perform specified election services in conjunction with a Special Mail Ballot Election to be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2006.
This request for a Mail Ballot election is in accordance with the requirements of Division 4 of the Elections Code.
It is in order for your Honorable Board to authorize the Chief Elections Officer to render specified election services for the above district. We respectfully request that our recommendation be approved.
